pdf ´ The Joel Rifkin Story Ä Robert Mladinich

O met as journalism students on assignment together in 1979; than two decades later the NYPD detective visited Rifkin in prison to examine what both had made of their livesIn a chilling series of exchanges Rifkin bared his soul to Mladinich chronicling his lost years the missed opportunities the failed relationships and the terrible details behin While factually interesting I can only wish it was written by anyone else The author has a disappointing lack of knowledge and insight into the deeper psychology of serial killers I gleaned from his descriptions of his interactions than from his conclusions Also it is uite evident that his writing style never progressed beyond his days as a sports reporter If you're already familiar with the Rifkin case you'll gain nothing by reading this book

reader From the Mouth of the Monster

From the Mouth of the Monster The Joel Rifkin StoryD his killings But Mladinich probed deeper forcing Rifkin to confront the horrifying nature of his crimesDrawn from interviews with Rifkin and his mother and conversations with acuaintances and professionals who encountered him From The Mouth Of The Monster is an exacting true crime portrayal and a chilling study of the possible evil within us al This is not a terrible book but the author's CONSTANT use of brackets to indicate where he is completing ideas for Rifkin in uotations is just relentless and annoying andPEDANTIC to an extreme He does is throughout the book over and over the fucking brackets indicating further information that simply isn't necessary I think Mlandinich is trying show off that he was a trained journalist or rather I should say trained journalist if you will Some of the examples are absurd For instance Rifkin is talking about how he was like an athlete trying to get better and murdering women So he says in Mlandinich's tortured syntax It's like I heard when his golf swing was bad Tiger Woods went back and blah blah For real man? I couldn't be expected to figure out that when you're discussing a golfer named Tiger some guy who murders whores meant Tiger Woods??? Makes for an unsightly disjointed read An ok book but the editor is a really lazy loser who should be out of a job
