For a full and edited review check out Blame it on the Book For once this is a book that I had no expectations for I was solely basing my expectations on the cover and the blurb They both looked and sounded really good Once I started reading I was sucked into Harp’s world and even if I tried to get out I don’t think I could have leftIt was such a beautiful and easy read that it wasn't hard to keep reading Harp has a lot of self loathing problems because of her abusive mother She was an only child and the only person who she let in and trusted was her best friend Connor Even though they had a lot of physical contact it was never sexual or than friends It’s probably the only reason she trusted him like that The only other think Harp loved than Connor was her music she played the Cello and she knew that was her ticket out of her mother’s abuse “I made a decision a long time ago After I turned eighteen and graduated from high school I would leave Liberty Iowa and never look back I would live life for me – the way I deserved”Harp had trouble letting people in therefore besides Connor the only other people we meet are Ethan and Emma who are twins she goes to school with and Connor’s mom Catherine Emma and Ethan were believable character They were sweet and funny but at the same time overly willing to please her It makes since Ethan was Connor’s best friend and he wanted to get along with Harp Catherine on the other hand was a little less believable I don’t know any mother that would let her teenage son sleep alone with another teenage girl Even if that girl has serious issues “After so many years of hearing someone tell you how ugly you are at some point you start believing it regardless of what the rational part of your brain is telling you”I also had a big issue with Harp’s mom maybe because it felt like time went so uickly in the book but when things changed for her it felt to rushed and a little to random Even though we get an idea of why she changed it’s not really expanded on “I can see the honesty in her face and hear the uiet pain in her words but it’s hard to reconcile that with what I've heard from her throughout my life” The one thing this book was not short on was the cute romance As Connor and Harp’s relationships starts to change there’s a lot of room for “Aw’s” and swooning It wasn't a perfect relationship but it was an adorable one “That’s my girl” he says kissing my forehead again “You are the bravest strongest most resilient beautiful loving wonderful amazing person I know and I love you”Overall it was a beautifully written book that was both emotional while having comical relief We cried laughed and fell in love with Harp One last note this book is heavy on abuse and if you or anyone you know is going through something reach out or call the abuse hotline 877 995 5247 Thank You Netgalley

Librarian's note This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B00GGXXCOIn just a few months Harp Evans will be officially coming of age and graduating from high school She will be free from the mother that never wanted her the house that never felt like home and the disappointment of the last seventeen year. 25 stars ARC was provided by the authorpublisher via NetGalley in exchange for honest reviewTo be honest it's uite hard for me to decide whether I like this book or not I think I have things I liked as much I didn't likeWhen I reuested it and while reading it I thought it's a standalone so I expected to get a whole full story At some point I can say it is a full story There is a beginning middle and ending that build Harp's story However I don't think the whole story build well There is something off with the way it was written The flow isn't smooth to me And there are many things that feel like coming out of the blue I do understand when Harp says that her mom changing feels so suddenly I feel it too but in a different way I think the author didn't give me time to know both Harp and her mom I only get description from Harp without really connect to her Hence it's uite hard for me to feel her The same case happens to Alex Hamilton It's too coincidence He also appears and disappears so fast and out of the blue Those things make me thinking that there are there just so Harp has something to trouble her life and a climax of the story while at the same time I can predict it from the beginning In most part I have to say that most of the things feel so fast and unbelievable I didn't get time to connect to the characters while at the same time they starting to tell me what happen in their life So I just read it without feel it and couldn’t buy itHowever I liked the way the author builds Harp and her mom relationship after her speech As much as it isn't nice thing Harp does I think it's close to reality It's understandable and was uite emotional I also like how she lets her lose herself and then learn from her mistake I believe that sometime it's best if we stand up from our mistake rather than we hold ourselves because people tell us to but then fall to pieces in the futureAnd then the story ends just to tell me that there is a seuel I thought could those out of the blue things happen here because it will tell in seuel Even if it is I still feel the author can do much better than this one I think I'm going to read Harp's next story anywayNote can someone tell me what ding dong girls is Cheerleaders

Harps Song Harps Song #1Dom but will also send her away from her best friend Connor Williams who is becoming than just a friendAs revelations are made will Harp still feel the same way about leaving everyone that cares about her behind Or will she continue to pursue the life she’s been dreaming of for as long as she can remembe. As I read Harp’s Song I felt my loyalties careening toward the characters I didn’t like in the beginning of the book Several of the books I’ve recently read have faulty adult characters that make me want to scream In many of these books the characters are parents who somehow fail their children In this book it’s hard not to despise Harp’s mother But when I read what she had been through it broke my heart for both of them It also reminded me that it’s important not to judge someone when I haven’t walked in her shoes I loved Harp’s closest friends in this book Connor and his mother Catherine for being Harp’s support system Harp’s character had so many wonderful talents including her musical ability and her determination to follow her dreams I’d love to find out how Harp’s story continues I received this book to review The opinions shared here are 100% mine
