Betting on LoveLand poor Elly leaves the family farm and heads to the big city to become something better than a waitress at a small town diner Though she’s succumbed to economic necessity and the siren song of her one time lover Alex she can’t bear to give up the farm which has. There is a lot of nice lovin' in this book Weaving through it all is the passion of riding a motorcycle Yes there is some sort of magical bond between a rider and their bike Also mixed in is the close connection to country living and the rush and exhilaration of city life Elly is our country honey while Alex is our city living motor bike riding bar tending gal The two briefly meet and click in the country so when Alex catches a glimpse of Elly in the city she makes a deliberate turn a knowing casual like hello that begins the reconnection SweetElly's family had a farm in Cardston Alberta Canada and now it is hers However money is an issue So Elly heads to the city in search of a job hopefully as a graphic artist but at least a position that will cover her expenses The pace noise and occasional isolation that comes with living in the city seems to always throw Elly a little off base So it is difficult for her to blend in and adapt to the city rhythm The sense of love and connection that she feels with Alex almost balances things off but Alex has a set of rules and needs that perplex Elly It puts a damper on the one connection and uplifting sensation Elly has sensed since she came to Calgary Alex is certainly a bit of conundrum to Elly because of a few of her uirky behaviors However Elly knows she really likes her and probably would go the extra mile for Alex Good stuffAlex's set of rules possibly stems from some heartache she has experienced It is never really spelled out but her actions speak loud and clear However even Alex is a tad unaware how not all her rules apply to Elly How Elly slowly becomes a rather important person to her Even if that isn't very clear to Elly early on I wonder if that is a city living phenomenon Elly is very skittish about motorcycles but Alex smoothtalks her onto her Kawasaki Ninja cycle anyway Most of the motorcycling segments are great fun and give non cycling folk a chase to embrace that rather personality molding existentialism I also got to experience up close and personal the dangerous side of motorcycling along with the exceptionally exhilarating side VaroomThis story brings in all sorts of characters the sometimes oddball give and take within a close relationship and the totally priceless and often selfless coming to the aid of another It was grand and I recommend it BeguilingNOTE This book was provided by Bold Strokes Books for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

This book is terrible 250 pages of reading about what everybody is eating and no conflict whatsoever except for the insipid relationship between Elly and Alex which isn't even that conflicted I started skimming halfway through and then just gave up entirely about 34 through Don't waste your time There are so many good lesbian books out there This is not one of them
