Its Probably Nothing...* Ý Daring sly and unlike any other book you’ve read this memoir in poems tackles cancer with a bawdy wit guaranteed to make you laugh your wig offWHAT TO DO WHEN CANCER STRIKES? As a vibrant woman in her late thirties a mother of two poet artist and teacher Micki Myers decided to confront her diagnosis head on with the sharpest tools in her arsenal namely her sense o So when you click on five stars it says It was amazing Those aren't the words I would use unless I continued the sentence It was amazing that Micki Myers could write poems about having breast cancer that made me laugh out loud and want to share the poems with anyone in my vicinity Which folks can vouch I have been doing this week I also laughed aloud on the bus Now I confess that I have not had breast cancer so it may seem unfair for me to find this book so funny However I have accompanied my late husband to many a chemo appointment and write with many cancer warriors every week Myers is funny Her descriptions of hospital strength Benadryl and the cure mekill me tension of Tamoxifen and adriamyacin are right on In a coda at the end she talks about why implants were important to her and a chemo nurse admitting that she can tell who is mostly likely to survive based on their sense of humor The day after my husband's death a lifetime again now better drugs now Myers might say my mother in law took me task for my black humor All I could think was that without it I wouldn't have been able to have survived the previous seven years and might have 1 fled or 2 killed Jim You have to be able to laugh about whether the donor's blood has added some characteristic or behavior to the recipient The terminology they use in the hospital the joy of warmed blankets Myers captures the way that horrible things get packaged and made to sound innocent like the gauge of needles the color of new nipples saline chilling like a rose Okay It was amazing Myers made me laugh with her at things that really should be too awful to be funny but become fodder once they can be part of a past The pieces made me miss all of my friends who were able to joke their way through illness including my late mother in law different one who joked on her last day that if she'd known how good a caramel macchiato was she would have started drinking them earlier Perhaps all those I've lost had the humor to survive but they didn't have the right drugs yet Here's to no losses and to everyone reading this book if only to learn that it's really okay to laugh with people who have cancer It's basic survival BOOK ´ ↠ Micki Myers

Micki Myers ↠ KINDLE Ctive on this frightening journey whether recently diagnosed or reveling in remission From losing your hair even ahem down there and gaining two bouncy silicone strangers to the pitfalls of marijuana therapy and the endless chemo room muzak “that makes you think survival might be overrated” Myers reminds you that you’re not alone and that it’s okay to laug Everyone should take some time to read this The memoir in poems format is beautiful
