I'm kind of conflicted with this one The storyline about the jerk coworker wasn't really necessary I would have liked to know about Ryan's perspective and I don't really understand why everyone was worried about what Brenda thought when Mia makes it clear to everyone that Brenda left and she doesn't care what she thinks I did like Mia and Ryan's relationship though and all of the scenes with the two of them were great

The description for this book could not be further from what this book actually is about This book has zero to do with revenge and everything to do with finding your own happiness despite sucky circumstances Such a Pretty Face by Gabrielle Goldsby is a light romance that focuses on dealing with dysfunctional relationships parents wife co workers and rising above the nonsense and making the most of your life on your termsMia Sanchez a beautiful Mexican American woman who just happens to be plus sized Mia has a great career through hard work and dedication she has established herself as one of the top financial analysts in her investment firm What Mia also has is a superficial wife a contemptuous mother and to top it all off a growing waistline none of which she knows what to do about You see Mia eats her feelings instead of dealing with her life’s issues Therefore she overeats and then begins to avoid looking in mirrors or trying on clothes Mia comes home one day to her wife Brenda who tells her she is taking a job in New Zealand for five months Three days later on her way to the airport Brenda lets her know she isn’t happy any and alludes to the fact Mia has let herself go Damn Brenda could you be any harsher Unfortunately Mia doesn’t breakup with the a hole and will have to deal with this relationship when Brenda decides to come back to Portland Ryan Benson is a beautiful blond athletic construction worker who is the perfect distraction for Mia’s messy breakup which is like a strong relationship pause Ryan is uiet reserved and undeniably nice Ryan has personal demons of her own and she has trouble facing their destructive patterns Kindness has been a double edged sword for her These two ladies are almost instantly drawn together but fight the urge to have any relationship beyond friendship because of Brenda and the relationship pause What I liked about this book is that both of the main characters were not “perfect” physically and they both had their share of emotional issues I really appreciate that the author gave us a beautiful woman who had a larger figure Beautiful women do not fit a standard mold There is going to be a but though There are things that I did not care for about this book either The potential is there for this book to be fantastic but I told you to me it sadly it fell just short The narrative which is shown from Mia's point of view spends so much time on her body image that we lost sight of the romance with Ryan Ryan’s issues seemed like they were barely touched on and for the life of me I could not figure out why we had to spend so much time with work related issues There is enough conflict already let’s delve into the good stuff and forget the petty co workers I was desperate to know about Ryan and what made her tick especially what drove her to Mia despite all of her reservations Gabrielle Goldsby is no doubt a talented author and one who I would gladly read again I loved what this book was a pleasant story with refreshing characters 325 stars

Such a Pretty FaceRms her that she has fallen out of love with her and that she's planning on leaving town for several months to give them time to think about their future together Mia hadn't thought words could be painful until Brenda followed up hers with You've reall. Having read this book once before I didn't expect to find myself chuckling at the funny bits again or feeling so much for the characters or finding new things within it that I liked I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this book even than I did the first time I'd forgotten just how lovely and appealing both the leads are Mia is just adorable and her interactions with her family had me guffawing several times Even her interactions with her potential love interest Ryan had me giggling She gets a bit clumsy and goofy around Ryan and who could blame her Gabrielle Goldsby certainly created a rather alluring woman in RyanI'm almost certain nobody certainly not me could accuse Goldbsy of writing poorly or making the act of reading hard work or adding superfluous characters or side plots that detract from the main reason for the novel which is the building romance of its two leads I love her work because of this fact She gets the level of plot just right without losing sight of the characters My interest in this book didn't wane at any point as I read through it again She had me rooting for the love story without it getting overly soppy The dialog didn't noticeably stray into cringe territory and I wanted to read the whole thing again once I was done though there were times I could have pushed my hand through the pages in order to give Mia a good shake Really who would allow an awful ex girlfriend so much control But on the flipside of that her struggles with being overweight were not overly dramatic and I didn't feel I was being preached to by Goldsby about either the merits of curvy women or the merits of being athletic and healthy Mia's change both physically and emotionally seemed to happen naturally and was completely understandable; lending itself well to the dynamic between her and Ryan And the dynamic was certainly well presentedThe few heated scenes between Mia and Ryan though sometimes a little far fetched were perfectly done and suited both characters I had to fan myself with my kindle at one point in fact But hell there's nothing wrong with reading books just for the romantic aspect and there's nothing wrong with enjoying sex scenes and the build up to those scenes I don't feel I have to apologise for what I like so I won't and this book delivers in all those aspects than adeuately as far as I'm concerned at leastOf course there is to the book than desire and sex even though the desire is very well portrayed; there are some great moments that had me really feeling for Mia and the book left an overall lingering sensation of satisfaction It isn't perfect but makes for an engaging light hearted enjoyable read that doesn't try to be something that it's not I know I'll be reading the book again in the futureI'd say this book lands in the 4 and a half stars zone for me but I've rounded it up for all the moments I found myself laughing out loud as I read
